Description | | This training focuses on exploring feelings about the care of children with special needs. It also discusses the four basic areas of child development, possible indicators of delays, impairments, and disabilities. The benefits of including children with special needs and their families, Techniques for adapting activities and the environment are addressed.
Objectives:
Know what is meant by inclusive childcare
Be able to identify the benefits of inclusive childcare
Explore specific strategies for including children with special needs
Consider how to best communicate with parents
Become aware of your attitudes and feelings about caring for children with special needs
Become familiar with some of the language, teaming, and practices of special education
