NOTICE: Registration deadline is one week before workshop date. Participants will be notified of cancellations due to weather or other circumstances via the email they provided for registration. Registrant cancellations will be accepted until the registration deadline. A 100% credit will be given for use toward the registration fees for another Central Region Early Learning Connection sponsored workshop within the same grant year of the original workshop.

Description¿Sabe cómo reducir el riesgo de muerte súbita e inesperada del lactante (SUID) y prevenir la asfixia accidental? ¿Conoces la forma más segura de poner a dormir a un bebé? ¿Tiene una política de sueño seguro? Si respondiste NO a alguna de estas preguntas, este taller es para ti. El taller de una hora fue desarrollado por el Centro de Capacitación para la Primera Infancia y cumple con los requisitos del Estatuto del Estado de Nebraska 43-2606. Todo el mundo corre el riesgo de sacudir a un bebé. Cuando se sacude a un bebé, la sacudida puede causar daño cerebral, discapacidades que cambian la vida e incluso la muerte. Esta es una lesión infantil que se puede prevenir. Este taller de una hora fue desarrollado por el Centro de Capacitación para la Primera Infancia y cumple con los requisitos del Estatuto del Estado de Nebraska 43-2606.

Do you know how to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and prevent accidental suffocation? Do you know the safest way to put a baby to sleep? Do you have a safe sleep policy? If you answered NO to any of these questions, this workshop is for you. The one-hour workshop was developed by the Early Childhood Training Center and meets the requirements of Nebraska State Statute 43-2606. Everyone is at risk of shaking a baby. When a baby is shaken, the shaking can cause brain damage, life changing disabilities, and even death. This is one childhood injury that is preventable. Objectives
Define SUID and accidental suffocation/strangulation in bed
Recite the four components of Safe Sleep
Have resources to develop a Safe Sleep Policy for an early childhood program
Review a sample Safe Sleep Policy for an early childhood program
Define Abusive Head Trauma
Understand the consequences of shaking a baby
List different reasons a baby may be crying
Create a personal plan to prevent Abusive Head Trauma
