Registrant cancellations will be accepted until the registration deadline. A 100% credit will be given for use toward the registration fees for another Central Region Early Learning Connection sponsored workshop within the same grant year of the original workshop.

DescriptionDo you know how to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and prevent accidental suffocation? Do you know the safest way to put a baby to sleep? Do you have a safe sleep policy? If you answered NO to any of these questions, this workshop is for you. The one-hour workshop was developed by the Early Childhood Training Center and meets the requirements of Nebraska State Statute 43-2606. Everyone is at risk of shaking a baby. When a baby is shaken, the shaking can cause brain damage, life changing disabilities, and even death. This is one childhood injury that is preventable. This one-hour workshop was developed by the Early Childhood Training Center and meets the requirements of Nebraska State Statute 43-2606.

Objectives:
Define SUID and accidental suffocation/strangulation in bed
Recite the four components of Safe Sleep
Have resources to develop a Safe Sleep Policy for an early childhood program
Review a sample Safe Sleep Policy for an early childhood program
Define Abusive Head Trauma
Understand the consequences of shaking a baby
List different reasons a baby may be crying
Create a personal plan to prevent Abusive Head Trauma

CommentsNebraska Department of Education Office of Early Childhood online participant requirements:
-Participant must have a working camera per participant, and audio capabilities.
-Participants who are not fully engaged, or have too many distractions, will not receive credit for the session.
-Your camera must be on for the entire training session unless the facilitator directs a break with cameras optional.
-Do not drive while attending this training. Children should not be present during the training. 
-Training may be recorded for evaluation purposes and for internal use only.  By joining, you are giving consent for this meeting to be recorded
-Join the Zoom 10 minutes prior to start time. Be on time.
